Biography

Charles Rose was a participant in Shays’ Rebellion who, with John Bly, was hanged at Lenox, Massachusetts, on December 6, 1787 for his part in the uprising of debt-ridden farmers — one of the few rebels put to death while the movement’s leaders were pardoned.
