Biography

Charles E. Mohr was a Church of the Brethren conscientious objector from Pennsylvania imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth; Alcatraz. Sentenced to 15 years in prison. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: arrived at Camp Meade on Nov. 3, 1917 & assigned to Co. K, 316 Infantry ; Kreger letter said he was assigned to QMC, Wagon Company, Auxillary Remount Depot No. 304, Camp Meade, Maryland, Oct. 7, 1918 (a later assignment); declared a CO on Nov. 8, 1917; …
