Biography
Thomas P. Moran was a conscientious objector from Pennsylvania imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth. Sentenced to 5 years in prison. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: registered for the draft on June 5, 1917 as a CO; interviewed by Special Bd. at the Disciplinary Barracks on Jan. 14, 1919 re: 58th, 69th, 61st & 96th articles of war; pleaded not guilty to all charges, but admitted to AWOL charge; sentenced to 5 years in prison; …
