Biography
Barbara A. Thomas was a 21-year-old student at the Virginia Theological Seminary and College who served a 30-day jail term in Lynchburg in 1961 for a drugstore lunch-counter sit-in. She was also a lead petitioner in a suit challenging federal grants to segregated institutions.
