Biography

August Wilhelm Lahtinen was a Finnish-born New York newspaperman, in the United States since 1914, against whom deportation proceedings were begun in 1958 on the sole ground that he had belonged to the Finnish Workers Federation — a leftist organization defunct since 1944 — treated by the government as Communist affiliation.
