Biography
Arthur Harvey was one of a group of pacifists arrested in New York City in April 1959 for refusing to take shelter during the compulsory 'Operation Alert' civil-defense drill — a protest against preparations for nuclear war. He chose to serve jail time rather than pay the fine.
Arthur S. Harvey was one of the Buffalo, New York workers jailed in 1930 for demanding "work or wages" in the unemployment demonstrations, drawing a sentence of 100 days (twice).
