Biography
Archie Bayer was a conscientious objector from Maryland imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Leavenworth. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: Sent to Camp Meade; sentenced to prison at Ft. Leavenworth; released on January 6, 1919 (but still held there at Ft. Leavenworth camp in February 1919).
