Biography
Anne Braden was a white civil-rights activist and journalist indicted for sedition in Louisville, Kentucky alongside her husband Carl after the couple helped a Black family, the Wades, move into a white neighborhood. Her trial was postponed pending the appeals in her husband's case and the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on state sedition laws; she went on to a long career as a Southern civil-rights organizer.
