Biography
Andy Ogando was a union steelworker arrested during the 1937 Little Steel strike against Bethlehem Steel's Cambria works in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. After a police attack on picketing strikers, Mayor Daniel J. Shields sentenced Ogando to 90 days in jail or a $100 fine — an instance of the municipal repression deployed for the steel companies.
