Alton Lawrence was an executive board member of the Mine, Mill & Smelter Workers Union from Bessemer, Alabama, one of the defendants in the 1959 Denver Taft-Hartley 'conspiracy' case who entered a plea of nolo contendere to the charge of filing false non-Communist affidavits.
