Biography
Founder of the Southern California chapter of the Black Panther Party and the chapter's deputy minister of defense. A former Slauson gang leader turned revolutionary while incarcerated at Soledad, he was shot to death on the UCLA campus on January 17, 1969, along with John Huggins, in a confrontation with members of Ron Karenga's US Organization that the FBI's COINTELPRO program had actively worked to provoke.
