Biography
Albert Barough was a UCLA student, born about 1940 in New York City and rode an Illinois Central train from New Orleans and was arrested at Jackson on July 30, 1961 — one of the arrests recorded by the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission and preserved in the Civil Rights Digital Library. The catalog establishes the arrest, the participation, and the individually identified police photograph, but not the court disposition, any transfer to Parchman, or the physical release date; those fields are unresolved pending county-jail, court, or penitentiary records.
The catalog records his death in 1961, the same year as the ride; the mugshot caption spells his surname Barouh, while Barough is the authoritative form.
