Federal agents raid IWW halls nationwide

Justice Department agents simultaneously raided 48 IWW halls and offices across the country, seizing five tons of records. The raids produced the mass Espionage Act indictment of the union's entire leadership — and effectively criminalized the country's most militant labor organization.
