Charged with murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy over the Marin County courthouse raid — guns registered in her name were used — Davis had spent 16 months in jail, much of it in solitary, while an international "Free Angela" campaign grew. Her trial before an all-white jury opened in San Jose on this day.
