Industrial Workers of the World founded in Chicago

The Industrial Workers of the World ("Wobblies") was founded at a convention in Chicago, uniting socialists, anarchists, and radical unionists into a single revolutionary union open to all workers regardless of skill, race, or gender. IWW members would be among the first major waves of U.S. political prisoners under the 1917 Espionage Act and 1918 Sedition Act.
