John Brown raids the Harpers Ferry armory
Abolitionists led by John Brown, including Black people recruited by Harriet Tubman, raided a federal armoury in Harpers Ferry, WV, to get weapons to arm enslaved people. Several were killed, and Brown later executed for treason.
