Biography
Willie Peterson was a tubercular Black World War veteran of Birmingham, Alabama framed in 1931 on charges of murdering two white "society girls." While in jail awaiting trial he was shot and wounded in his cell by Dent Williams, a wealthy white man ushered in by the authorities. His case became a major ILD Southern defense alongside Scottsboro.
