Biography
Thomas Gray was a Black sharecropper jailed after the July 1931 attack on the Share Croppers' Union at Camp Hill, Alabama; the frame-up charges were fought by the International Labor Defense. In July 1931 a sheriff's posse attacked a meeting of the newly-formed, Communist-led Share Croppers' Union near Camp Hill in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, killing organizer Ralph Gray and touching off mass arrests of Black sharecroppers. The International Labor Defense won the release of most of the jailed men.
