Biography

Simeon Bushnell was an Oberlin, Ohio bookseller and one of the leaders of the 1858 Oberlin–Wellington Rescue of the recaptured freedom seeker John Price, whom he drove to safety. Tried first in Cleveland and convicted under the Fugitive Slave Act, he received the heaviest sentence of the rescuers.
