Biography

Sarah Lightfoot Tarleton Colvin (September 12, 1865 - April 22, 1949) was a member of the National Woman’s Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage. Stevens records two separate five-day terms in the District Jail connected with the 1919 watchfire demonstrations.

The date of the first arrest is unresolved. She was arrested a second time on January 27, 1919 alongside Mary Nolan and sentenced on January 28 to five days. Nominal completion of that term was about February 2; neither personal discharge document has been located.
