First New Englander since the U.S. war in Indochina to be indicted for nonregistration. Arrested for refusal to register on Aug. 10, 1982 in Hartford, Connecticut. At his arrest a fellow resister hugged him in solidarity, prompting federal marshals to charge that resister with "assaulting federal officers by embracing Russell Ford."
