Biography

Rhoda Kellogg (January 23, 1898 - August 21, 1987), later Rhoda Kellogg Rypins, was a member of the National Woman’s Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage.

She was jailed for twenty-four hours for contempt after applauding in court, probably on January 15, 1919, though the exact date remains slightly uncertain and is not entered. Arrested again on January 27, she was sentenced on January 28 to five days in the District Jail. Nominal completion was about February 2; no personal discharge record has been found.
