Biography
Otis L. Hairston Jr. was arrested twice during the 1963 Greensboro, North Carolina desegregation campaign — once for the downtown square sit-down and once at the Carolina Theatre. The Civil Rights Digital Library records that he was among the demonstrators confined in the former polio hospital and processed at the Coliseum, the improvised mass-detention sites of that campaign. The exact dates and durations of the two custody episodes are not established in the catalog, so the arrests are entered at year precision and the releases left unresolved.
