Biography

Oscar E. Brex was a conscientious objector from New York imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth. Sentenced to 25 years. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: wrote to Frances Witherspoon that he was at Upton with five other C.O.s, including ___ Convassor , a member of the Peoples Council; sentenced to 25 years; sent to Leavenworth on Nov. 25, 1918
