Biography

Morris J. Plousker was a conscientious objector from New York imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth. Sentenced to 5 years in prison. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: registered on June 5, 1917, but not a sa C.O.; interviewed by Bd. at the D.B.; charged with disobedience & disrespect to a noncommissioned officer; sentenced to 5 years in prison; reason for stance = humanitarian
