Biography
Max Cichon was a farmer near Elkhorn, Wisconsin whose home was besieged during a mid-winter 1933 farm eviction, when the sheriff and some twenty deputies tear-gassed and fired on the house; Cichon and his wife returned fire with shotguns before surrendering. He was jailed and charged with assault with intent to kill, and his wife was also jailed — a case from the farm-holiday anti-eviction resistance of the Depression.
