Biography

Mary Knowles was a librarian employed by the Quaker Plymouth Monthly Meeting in Pennsylvania, indicted for contempt of Congress in December 1956 for refusing to answer a Congressional committee's questions about her associations. Her stand inspired the 1956 film 'Storm Center.'
