Biography
Mark Siljander was a former Republican congressman from Michigan and an ardent social conservative and fundamentalist Christian. He is also the author of "A Deadly Misunderstanding: A Congressman's Quest to Bridge the Muslim-Christian Divide", and worked with the Islamic American Relief Agency, an Islamic charity with ties to terrorism.
Because the IARA is a terrorist organization in the eyes of the US government, it hired Siljander to lobby the government on its behalf in 2004.
Siljander concealed these ties from the public and lied to FBI agents about his relations with the IARA. For this, he was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison.
Donald Trump pardoned Mark Siljander in 2020, citing his anti-abortion record.
