Biography
Marcus Singer was a Cornell University zoologist indicted for contempt of Congress — at the same time as John Watkins in 1954 — for refusing to name past associates before the House Un-American Activities Committee. His conviction was reversed in July 1957 in the wake of the Supreme Court's Watkins ruling, and he was reinstated to the Cornell faculty.
