Biography
Lauren Gazzola is an American animal rights activist who served as a campaign coordinator for SHAC USA and was one of the SHAC 7 defendants. She was convicted in 2006 on federal charges including conspiracy to violate the Animal Enterprise Protection Act and interstate stalking for her role in organising and publicising actions targeting Huntingdon Life Sciences and its business partners. Gazzola was sentenced to 52 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution. Her prosecution — like those of her co-defendants — has been cited by civil liberties advocates as an example of aggressive legal action against protest organisers.
