Josephine Sunshine Overaker
Biography
Josephine Sunshine Overaker was a member of the Earth Liberation Front / Animal Liberation Front cell prosecuted in Operation Backfire, indicted for her alleged role in a string of 17 arsons and sabotage actions across the western United States beginning in 1996, including conspiracy, five arson counts, attempted arson and destruction of an energy facility. She fled before the 2005-2006 arrests of her co-defendants and is believed to be living abroad; she remains on the FBI Domestic Terrorism wanted list with a reward of up to $50,000. The FBI wanted notice issued by the Bureau's Portland field office gives her place of birth as Canada and lists three dates of birth used — November 19, 1974, October 4, 1971 and November 4, 1971 — alongside the alias identities Lisa Rachelle Quintana and Maria Rachelle Quintana; these are dates she is recorded as having used rather than a verified birth date, and the first of them, November 19, 1974, is the one entered here. The FBI released an age-progressed photograph of her in December 2015 depicting her at 41 years of age — an age she reaches in November 2015 under the 1974 date and not under either 1971 date, which would have made her 44 at that moment — so it is the 1974 date the Bureau itself works from. Federal law enforcement was nonetheless still describing her in April 2022 as either 47 or 50 years old, so the 1971 alternative has never been formally abandoned.. The same notice states her nationality as Canadian while its remarks call her an American citizen. She was indicted by a federal grand jury at Eugene on January 19, 2006, and the reward stands at up to $50,000. Federal law enforcement believes she fled to Europe in late 2001.
