Black / Latino liberation activist charged in the October 17-18, 1984 federal RICO indictment alongside the New York 8 — making the case the New York 8+. The sole charge against him was RICO conspiracy. Arrested in a predawn FBI/NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force raid and held without bail in federal custody before being released pending trial in early 1985. Trial began May 13, 1985 before Judge Kevin Thomas Duffy in the Southern District of New York; the August 1985 jury acquitted him on the only count he faced.
