Biography
Jonathan Zou is one of four pro-Palestine activists arrested by the FBI in June 2026 in connection with a protest campaign at the University of Michigan. Federal prosecutors charged the four with conspiracy to transmit threats in interstate and foreign commerce — citing graffiti, broken windows, butyric acid, and threatening messages directed at University officials — and additionally charged two of them with intimidating a federal witness. Arrested on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, all four were released two days later, on Friday, June 12, 2026, on $10,000 unsecured bonds with conditions such as GPS monitoring, curfews, or home detention, after Magistrate Judge Anthony Patti found they had not acted on their statements. The case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit.
