Biography
John L. Scott was a member of the Black Panther Party and the eighth person indicted over the April 6, 1968 West Oakland gun battle in which 17-year-old Bobby Hutton was killed. Co-defendant Terry Cotton recalled that "Donnell [Lankford], John L. Scott and I were the first to be arrested." He was charged with the group on two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The most thinly documented of the eight — absent even from the Party's own February 1970 prisoner roster — he has no individually recorded trial disposition.
