Biography

John Dick was the United States district attorney at New Orleans who helped bring Louis Louaillier's petition for a writ of habeas corpus before Judge Dominick A. Hall. For his part in the challenge to General Andrew Jackson's martial law, Jackson ordered him detained as well, in the same March 1815 confrontation over the rule of law in the occupied city.
