Biography
Jesse Crawford was a young Black worker repeatedly framed onto the Georgia chain gang who escaped and was recaptured in Detroit; a national ILD protest forced the Michigan governor to refuse Georgia's extradition demand in January 1933. He had earlier been held four months in the Fulton Tower at Atlanta.
