Biography
Jennie La Zar was a member of the IWW's Chicago Recruiting Union. Around February 8, 1919, Chicago police arrested or detained her for questioning during the wartime and Red Scare repression of IWW activity; officers attempted to pressure her to stop attending IWW meetings. No formal criminal charge, court appearance, sentence or prolonged imprisonment is documented — the likely outcome was a brief investigative detention followed by release.
