Biography
Jason Hammond is an antifascist who was accused of being connected to an anti-white supremacist action at a local diner. On May 19, 2012, a white supremacist group organized a meet up at Ashford House restaurant in Tinley Park, Illinois on the website Stormfront. In response, a masked anti-fascist collective formed by members of Anti-Racist Action (ARA) and the Hoosier Anti-Racist Movement (HARM) arrived at the diner ready to confront the supremacists. A fight broke out and the ARA/HARM members eventually fled the premises. Five men in a car were spotted by police and were arrested for connection to the action based on their dress. These men would come to be known as the Tinley Park 5.
Hammond was arrested a year after the action on the same charges as the Tinley Park 5, armed violence and mob action. His indictment states the Tinley Park Police were given a report from the FBI stating that they had identified him from DNA gathered at the scene, and a surveillance video from the restaurant. Hammond took a non-cooperating plea agreement on January 22, 2015 and served 3.5 years. He is the twin brother of Jeremy Hammond, a political prisoner. He was released in April 2016.
