Biography
James Few was a young Regulator captured at the Battle of Alamance on May 16, 1771. The day after the battle, without any trial, Governor William Tryon ordered him hanged in the militia camp as an example to the other prisoners. He became one of the first martyrs of the Regulator movement, the agrarian revolt against colonial corruption that many later remembered as a forerunner of the Revolution.
