Biography
Jacob Lymon Kenison was a Utah 'straight edge' animal-rights activist imprisoned for his part in the June 15, 1995 Animal Liberation Front firebombing of a Tandy Leather store in Murray, Utah, which caused about $300,000 in damage. By his account he threw a brick through the store window and acted as lookout, denying that he threw the Molotov cocktail that started the fire. He was arrested in February 1997 as investigators broke up a cell of Utah 'straight edge' animal-rights firebombers (also linked to arsons of a McDonald's and the Utah Fur Breeders cooperative). In 1997 he pleaded guilty to state attempted arson — one year in jail and $30,188 restitution — and to a federal charge of buying a rifle for fellow activist Josh Ellerman on a falsified form, for which he received 16 months. Held in federal custody on the arson and moved from Salt Lake City to Oklahoma and then to the Yuma Unit in Arizona (federal register no. 06329-081), he was released on December 23, 2003.
Jacob Lymon Kenison, age 19, was charged in 1998 with one count aggravated arson reduced to two counts criminal mischief after firebombing a leather store in Murray, Utah, throwing a brick through its window, and spray-painting animal-rights slogans. Sentenced to 9 months county jail plus 36 months probation.
