Biography
Irving Feiner was a Syracuse University student arrested for a sidewalk speech publicizing a Young Progressives meeting and criticizing local officials. His disorderly-conduct conviction was upheld 6-3 by the Supreme Court in the landmark free-speech case Feiner v. New York (1951); he served thirty days and was expelled from the university.
