Biography
Hugo Oehler was arrested in the 1928 Kansas City, Kansas raids on workers' meetings at the Armour packing plant and charged under the Kansas Criminal Syndicalism Law with advocating or belonging to an organization that advocated the overthrow of government. A speaker at the raided meetings, he was charged with advocating the overthrow of government; he became a well-known communist and, later, Trotskyist organizer. The defendants were released on ILD bond to await trial.
