Biography

Gerard Liebisch, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, was sentenced to four years in prison. He served in Atlanta Penitentiary from December 15, 1917, to May 10, 1920. Hehada wife andone child. At the time of his arrest, Liebisch's wife was in "very bad health, " and his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter was forced to "stay with strangers." Writing to a friend from prison almost two years after his arrest, Liebisch expressed worry about the child's welfare and his fear that she would not recognize her father when he went home from prison.
