Biography
Decorated Army combat infantry sergeant in Vietnam who served at Khe Sanh, wounded in a firefight and evacuated just before NVA troops overran the base in the Tet Offensive and wiped out his unit. Operated in areas heavily sprayed with Agent Orange. Joined Vietnam Veterans Against the War, returned his medals to the Pentagon. With Charles Liteky, began the Veterans Fast for Life on the U.S. Capitol steps September 1, 1986. Married German peace activist Rosemarie Höhn-Mizo (met 1986); they founded the Vietnam Friendship Village near Hanoi in 1992 caring for Agent Orange victims. Died March 18, 2002 of complications from his own Agent Orange exposure.
