Biography

Frank Gormlie founded the Ocean Beach People's Rag and organized in San Diego's Ocean Beach community. Following the 1971 Collier Park demonstration, he was convicted of failure to disperse and assault with a deadly weapon upon a police officer. His defense maintained that he used a shovel to protect a boy from police blows. OB Rag reports that he served from May to December 1972 and successfully appealed probation restrictions on association with the newspaper and its staff.
