Biography
Estella Ladds Eylward, formerly Estella Vouraka, was born in New Mexico in 1880 and was a member of the National Woman's Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage. She married James Jacob Eylward on September 15, 1903. The exact day of her birth and her date of death are unresolved.
She was arrested on February 9, 1919 at the final watchfire demonstration, sentenced on February 10 to five days in the District Jail, and released on February 13 after the prisoners' hunger strike.
