Biography
Ernest T. Carl Laub was a conscientious objector from Minnesota imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth; Fort Douglas. Sentenced to 20 years in prison. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: registered for the draft on June 5, 1917 as a C.O.; was interviewed by the Special Bd. on the charges of desertion & disobedience of orders on Feb. 14, 1919 at the Disciplinary Barracks ; was sentenced to 20 years in prison
