Biography
Ellen Winsor (November 30, 1882 - July 25, 1959) was a Pennsylvania member of the National Woman's Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage.
She was arrested on January 13, 1919, released on bail and rearrested that evening, held overnight, and sentenced on January 14 to five days in the District Jail. Sources describe her as spending five days in jail; no discharge record has been found, so the nominal release date of January 19 is not entered.
One biographical account alleges an earlier arrest in the summer of 1917 involving a meeting or a statue. No contemporary arrest roster supporting it has been located, so it is recorded here as unverified and no case row is created for it.
