Biography

Dirk Jan Struik was a world-renowned MIT mathematician and historian of science indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury in 1951 under a Massachusetts sedition law for conspiring to overthrow the state and federal governments. He was suspended from MIT; the charges were eventually dropped after the Supreme Court's 1956 Nelson decision voided state sedition laws.
