Biography
Dawn Jeffrey is a community activist from Central Arkansas. She is the founder of the Little Rock Freedom Fund and Nayborhood Activists. Dawn has worked in the Little Rock community for years, helping the unhoused, facilitating park and community cleanups, backpack drives, educational events, protests, and direct actions. Dawn organized and co-hosted a summer-long Know Your Rights tour. On December 14, 2020, charges were filed against Jeffrey for a number of acts of vandalism done during the height of the BLM protests, based on the testimony of police informants working with the ATF. No material evidence tied Dawn to any of the vandalism, and security footage shows that one act of vandalism, which the informant claimed in their affidavit had been committed by four people, had only been committed by a single person. After participating in a bail fund drive, Jeffrey's bond was revoked on June 25, 2021, and she was remanded to the Greene County Detention Center to await her trial.
On December 12, 2022, she was sentenced to 17 months — effectively time served after her pretrial detention — with 18 months of supervised release, and did not return to custody.
